Unfortunately, a large percentage of adults in America are virtually illiterate. They can’t read above a 4th grade level.

Yet they vote, have bank accounts, sign leases and mortgages. They dispense medication to family members, handle toxic chemicals and food for consumer consumption, all without being able to read, or understand, the fine print on labels. In many cases, they are accidents waiting to happen.

Liafail hired us to partner with them to design from the bottom up, a series of multi-media training tools to help adults upgrade their skills to a high-school level. Working with one of the very first CBT (computer-based training) tools available to the mass market, we designed and delivered the content to put meat on the bones of Liafail’s programming expertise.

In some cases, we designed the material from scratch. In other cases we worked with subject matter experts to repurpose existing material.

The product has been a smashing success. Now distributed by Learning2000 and Gateway Computers, this series of products has become one of the hallmarks of adult basic skills training.
